Austin Texas Real Estate

Austin, Texas - Winter 2007:

The credit crunch continues and markets around the nation are dropping like flies. Ah, but Austin again bucks the trend. Read our reprint of the article from the November 2007 Forbes magazine that lists Austin as one of the top 10 real estate markets in the country. That's not to say that we aren't feeling a little economic cruch here in the Lone Star State. Housing starts are down even here - but that's because of the national picture, not necessarily because of demand here. See, those are generally national companies and their funds ebb and flow depending upon the national economy. The good news about that is that the slow down on new home growth is a win for the resale market.

So, if you've got a home to sell you may not have as much new home competition as in the recent past. But, don't get any lofty notions about it being a seller's market. You still need to price your home competitively for your area to get it to sell in a reasonable amount of time. Buyers are skittish due to the "doom and gloom" media deluge and they aren't about to jump financial ship just yet. Let's face it, people want quality and they want to pay a resonable price for it. If your home fits that bill, then it wil sell. But then, that's good advice for any market!
