The University of Texas at Austin is the largest component of The University of Texas System. UT Austin is a major research university that is home to 48,000 students, 2,700 faculty, and 17,000 staff members. UT Austin was founded in 1883 on 40 acres near the state capitol. As the academic flagship of the UT System's 15 component institutions, the University is home to students from every country in Texas, all 50 states, and about 120 foreign countries.

Austin Community College has been serving the Central Texas community since 1973, when it was established by the Austin Independent School District. Today it is governed by an independent board. The college has grown to more than 26,000 college credit students each fall and nearly 18,000 additional enrollments during the year in continuing education programs.

Concordia University at Austin is a private, coeducational institution of liberal arts and sciences offering undergraduate and graduate degrees. Founded in 1926, Concordia is affiliated with the Lutheran Church, however all faiths are welcome. The campus is located on a tree-shaded 20-acre campus in the heart of Austin.

St. Edward's University
is a private, Catholic liberal arts institution of about 3,800 students. The Rev. Edward Sorin, the same priest who founded the University of Notre Dame, founded the school in 1885. Students enjoy the advantages of small classes and personal attention coupled with excellent internships and service-learning opportunities.
